Nestled at the base of the scorched lands once ruled by Ox-King—a towering yet kind-hearted warrior who once governed Fire Mountain —there stood a small, resilient settlement known as Ox-King’s Village. It was a place of heat and hardship, where the air shimmered with rising waves of warmth and the soil cracked beneath relentless sun. Yet for a boy named Inugami, it was home—simple, bright, and filled with laughter.

At fourteen years old, Inugami lived a life untouched by the greater conflicts of the world. As an Inugami—a rare, animal-blooded human with heightened instincts—he possessed keen senses and a wild, untamed spirit, though he was still very much a child at heart. His days were spent chasing dust devils through the village paths, helping elders gather water from distant springs, and listening to stories of ancient warriors told beneath starlit skies. Despite the harsh climate, he loved the heat; it felt alive to him, like a constant test he was eager to grow into. The villagers adored him for his earnestness, and he, in turn, adored them—especially the women of the village, who treated him like family, teasing him and praising his growing strength.

That peace was shattered in a single night.

Under the cover of darkness, human traffickers descended upon the village like shadows. Their machines hummed with cruel precision, and their movements were swift, merciless. Inugami, awakened by the screams of those he loved, rushed into the chaos without hesitation. He fought with everything he had—claws, fists, and raw instinct—but he was still just a boy. One of the traffickers struck him down, and as his vision blurred and the world slipped away, he could only watch helplessly as the women of his village were taken. His last conscious thought was not fear—but failure.

When he awoke, the world had changed.

He found himself deep within the haunting expanse known as the Forest of Terror—a place said to exist between the living world and the afterlife, where one’s deepest fears and memories take form . The air was thick with unseen presence, and the trees seemed to breathe with a will of their own. It was there that he encountered the being who would reshape his destiny: the Immortal Phoenix.

The Phoenix was not merely a creature, but a force—ancient, radiant, and eternal. Its flames did not burn; they revealed. It had found Inugami’s broken body at the edge of death and sensed something deeper within him: a spirit that refused to fade. Without words, it took him in.

For months, Inugami trained beneath the watchful gaze of the Phoenix. The Forest of Terror became both his prison and his crucible. Illusions born from his guilt manifested endlessly—visions of the villagers calling for help, of himself failing again and again. Each time he broke, the Phoenix would force him to rise. It did not comfort him. It demanded rebirth.

Under its guidance, Inugami learned to fight not just with his body, but with his spirit. He learned to harness ki through instinct rather than discipline, his Inugami nature blending with the Phoenix’s teachings. His movements became sharper, faster—like a beast wreathed in flame. The Phoenix’s fire seeped into his very being, granting him a unique power: the ability to burn away weakness and rise stronger from defeat, much like the mythical rebirth of the Phoenix itself.

But strength came with clarity—and clarity brought pain.

No matter how powerful he became, one truth remained: he had failed when it mattered most.

One morning, without ceremony, Inugami stood at the edge of the forest. The Phoenix did not stop him. It had given him everything it could—power, purpose, and the means to rise again. The rest was his burden to carry.

With a final glance back at the shifting shadows of the Forest of Terror, Inugami stepped forward into the world.

He left not as the innocent boy who once laughed beneath the burning sun, but as something reborn—Inugami, Disciple of the Immortal Phoenix. A wandering soul driven by guilt, seeking strength not for glory, but for redemption. Somewhere out there, the people he failed still waited to be saved… and this time, he swore, he would not fall.
